Powering Maryland with Offshore Wind
Offshore wind can be a major economic development engine and job creator for states and cities engaged in this new industry. As a maritime industry, activity will naturally be centered around ports, but the full buildout of the industry requires manufacturers, steel fabricators, and engineers, to name a few. The federal government estimates building 30,000 MW of offshore wind capacity can create 77,000 jobs in the United States.

The Business Work received funding for this website from the Maryland Energy Administration’s (MEA) Offshore Wind Business Development Fund. MEA advises the governor and general assembly on all energy matters, promoting affordable, reliable and cleaner energy. MEA develops and administers programs and policy to support and expand all sectors of the state’s economy while benefiting all Marylanders and implementing legislation.
