Maryland’s Offshore Wind Projects and Important Locations
Maryland’s four offshore wind projects were approved as described by the Maryland Public Service Commission. In January 2024, offshore wind developer Orsted, pulled out of their OREC contract with the Maryland PSC. The Skipjack projects are currently on hold in their federal permitting process and have no transmission interconnection or energy offtake agreement with any state.

Situated 18 miles off the Maryland coast, the MarWin offshore wind project will generate 248 MW of total energy, enough to power 75,000 homes in Maryland. The project is expected to be completed in 2024.
